‘Kara Kara Estate’ Vineyard, named after an aboriginal term meaning “Gold Quartz” was established in 1977 on the northern slopes of the ‘Pyrenees Mountain Range’. ‘Kara Kara Estate’, recognised as one of the Region’s finest producers of single vineyard varietals. The Wines ‘Kara Kara Estate’ produces two white varietals; Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. These wines are elegantly crafted with fine varietal definition, powerful yet restrained, and tasting of citrus and stone fruits. The two red wines produced, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, are renowned for a deep, garnet- red colour, powerful bouquet, and well balanced, full- bodied flavour. The Vineyard The eight hectare vineyard is dry grown, which leads to a limited production of the finest parcels of fruit. Yields are low, contributing to wines of increased flavour and structure. All vines are hand pruned and harvested, and fruit is 100% estate grown, thus yielding single source wines. The vineyard site was selected for an open hill side terrain and elevation of 300 meters above sea level, limited frost exposure, and a unique micro-climate and soil texture. From the hexagonal, glassed-in Tasting Room, a magnificent view may be enjoyed of the vines spread out below, and beyond, the mountains of the Pyrenees’. The undercover courtyard Dining area seats up to 60 guests with ease, and in balmy weather is perfect for any ‘al fresco’ occasion. Our wood heated interior provides an elegant dining experience with crisp, white damask, napery and Covers for 28. The cuisine is matched with ‘Kara Kara Estate’ Vintage wines, and a Menu may be created to order and made available in advance for approval. Or if they prefer, our Guests may choose to be surprised by the ‘Kara Kara Estate’ Dining experience. |
