| Description: | Located in the small town of Lyndoch in the Barossa Valley, Ross Estate is a family owned winery established on old vineyards in 1999. A combination of young spirits, and a veteran winemaker of over forty vintages has seen this modern winery reach new heights.
Our aim, to produce wines of consistent quality, from the soil up. In short, to capture "The Soul of the Vine". The wines of Ross Estate are perfect to drink now but also have great cellaring potential, not overpowering but with tannins and oak which complement the grapes and situations in which they are enjoyed. Ross Estate... Estate Crafted... Pure Harmony Winemaker Rod Chapman, Ross Estate Wines' winemaker, has had four decades' experience in the South Australian wine industry at a number of Barossa Valley icon wineries including Orlando, the Saltram/Krondorf Group, Kaiser Stuhl (where he was Chief Winemaker) and finally with Penfolds for eighteen years making Grange for Southcorp. Whilst those were valuable and enjoyable times, eventually Rod came to miss the totally 'hands on' aspect that a small winery offers. Being a local (born and bred in Lyndoch), it was at this stage that Rod sought out that 'small winery' experience. Hence, Ross Estate came into his life. This has obviously been a good move for him - in 2000 Rod was named as one of five finalists in Winestate Magazine's Winemaker of the Year. |
